Questions about how to control your account and what our billing
procedures are.
Q: How can
I place an order for service? |
A: You can place your order using our online sign-up form.
Visit our
sign up page and fill out our short form for fast activation. |
Q: How long
does it take to open an account? |
A: All accounts are opened in realtime.
As soon
as you signup you're sent an email receipt, a userid, a password,
and an FTP hostname. All the instructions you need to get started.
Your can begin uploading files as soon as you visit the Domain
Manager in the control panel after you signup.
After you've
uploaded your files, it usually takes anywhere from 48 to 72 hours
to successfully transfer a domain name to our name servers.
|
Q: How do you
bill me? |
A: We don't bill you. Our service is operated on a "pay
as you go" basis. You pay for things at the same time that you begin
to use them.
Each time you need more resources (a plan renewal, overage
bandwidth, domain registration) we charge you at that time for that
service.
|
Q: How do I pay
for my account? |
A: You can pay for your account by Paypal or by drawing
on a previously established pre-payment balance. To establish a
pre-payment balance you mail a check or money order to our postal
address and wait until we notifiy you that it has been credited to
your account. If you want to make a large pre-payment, $500 US or
more, you may send the payment by Western Union. If you need to open
a Paypal account please click

Q: Can I resell
my web space? |
A: Yes. You can resell space within your account.
However, you will be responsible for its content and data transfer.
Your users MUST agree to the same terms that you were presented with
when you signed up with Shooting Star hosting. Most importantly, we
have no tolerance for e-mail spam. |
Q: How are
charges handled? |
A: When you've used up all the resources included in your
plan and your site requires additional transfer, disk space, or
support for additional domain names, our billing system
automatically notices and places a charge.
If you have a
credit card on file with us, our billing system will attempt to make
a charge to your card and if succesfull, credit you for the
additional resources and e-mail you a receipt.
If you
maintain a prepaid balance with us, the charge for the resources
will be deducted from your balance.
If the charge to your
credit card is declined or if you have insufficient funds in your
prepaid balance, an e-mail notice will be mailed to you and your
sites may be suspended if you do not responded by visiting the
Control Panel's Billing Menu to submit a payment within 24 hours.

Q: What's this
$1.00 charge on my credit card? |
A: What you are seeing is the result of our system
attempting to verify your credit card information.
Each time you present an unfamiliar card our system will do a
$1.00 test charge in order to check the validity of the submitted
information (valid card number, AVS match, expiration date, CCID).
We do the verification for $1.00, rather than for the full
amount of your purchase, in order to avoid serious inconvenience to
a person whose card number might be fraudulently submitted to the
system.
This $1.00 has not been collected from your bank. The entry
you are seeing reflects a "hold" that your bank placed on your funds
(or credit) when we did the verification.
Our system will not collect the dollar, and the "hold" will
eventually time out.
